Wired connectionA wired connection will go a long way to improving the reliability of your business broadband. Using a wired connection is recommended (where possible) for non portable office devices, such as PC's. This is done by using an Ethernet cable to connect your device directly to your router.
Wired connections eliminate the risk of interference on your network. Many electrical appliances such as microwaves and cordless phones can negatively affect WiFi signal. Also, other wireless networks from neighbouring businesses can interfere with your connection. |
Powerline adaptersPowerline adapters utilise the electricity powerlines in your building to create a wired network. A simple powerline adapter kit comes with 2 adapters, complete with two small Ethernet cables. One of the adapters is then connected to your router, the other connected to the device you want, e.g a PC.
This then creates a wired connection for devices in your building, that are located in areas with weak wireless signal - Resulting in a much more reliable connection. |
