The 5G Mobile Network
You may be thinking that 4G connection is fast enough for your smartphone, however the new 5G network will make it look slow! 5G speeds are likely to be up to 100 gigabits per second, but what exactly does this mean?
Well, this translates to it being up to 100 times faster than the current 4G mobile network found on modern smartphones. This will be faster than the best home broadband packages available to you.
Although widespread 5G roll out is expected to be in 2020, there are some 5G smartphone releases tipped for 2019, which include: Samsung Galaxy S10, Huawei Mate 30, One Plus 7 and many more…
Folding Smartphones
Smartphone design has been similar for the past few years; however, this could soon be changed. Many of the large smartphone manufacturers, such as Samsung, are planning to create a folding smartphone in 2019. A small start-up firm, called Royole, released the first folding smartphone towards the back end of 2018, named the Royole FlexPai.
The beauty with folding smartphones is that they double up as tablet and a smartphone. When unfolded the devices have a tablet sized display, when folded they will have a smartphone sized display. However, the first releases will likely be close to £1500, so it might be best waiting to see if the trend takes off!
One or Even Two Cameras Aren’t Enough
For most people their smartphone is their main camera, and with social media apps such as Instagram being so popular, it is vital smartphones have cameras that capture stunning photos. For years now smartphones have had one or even two cameras, but this is changing in 2019.
The high-end smartphones will likely have three or four cameras that capture different types of shots. Samsung released the Samsung Galaxy A9 in late 2018, which is the first smartphone to have 4 rear cameras, here’s what they do:
The first camera captures ultra-wide images, to make sure you get everything in your shot.
The second camera is a telephoto camera which has 2x optical zoom.
The third camera is the main one that will be used to capture most images.
Finally, the fourth camera is a depth camera, which works with the main camera to let you manually adjust depth of field.
Finger Print Scanners – But Built into Screen!
In-display finger print scanners will become mainstream in 2019. They will mostly replace the old style of scanner, which was made popular with TouchID on some older iPhones.
The new finger print scanning technology will be more accurate than we have ever seen before, making smartphones more secure than ever. Important if you are looking to protect your personal or business data!
